Exercise 37 Page 778

Multiply each individual element by the constant.

9&-6 15& -3 -6 &-12

Practice makes perfect
To multiply a matrix by a scalar, we need to multiply each individual element by the value of the scalar. This operation is called scalar multiplication. Recall that a scalar is a constant. Let's do it!
- 3 -3 & 2 -5 & 1 2 & 4

Multiply matrix by - 3

-3(-3) & -3(2) -3(-5) & -3(1) -3(2) & -3(4)
9&-6 15& -3 -6 &-12
