Let's use this to simplify the expression. 7/16 -(- 1/2 ) ⇔ 7/16 + 1/2When adding fractions, they must have the same denominator. Since 2 * 8 =16, we can create a common denominator by multiplying the numerator and denominator in 12 by 8. 7/16 + 1* 8/2* 8 ⇔ 7/16 + 8/16 Now that they have the same denominator, they can be added.
