Exercise 91 Page 49

Practice makes perfect
a To rewrite the statement in if-then form, we have to identify the statement's hypothesis and conclusion. In the if-then form, the hypothesis comes after "if" and the conclusion comes after "then."

Hypothesis:&If... Conclusion:&then... Let's identify the hypothesis and conclusion of the given statement. Lines with the same slope are parallel. Now we can write the statement in if-then form. If two lines have the same slope, then they are parallel.

b Like in Part A, we have to identify the hypothesis and conclusion of the given statement.

A vertical line has undefined slope. Now we can write the statement in if-then form. If a line is vertical, then it has an undefined slope.

c Like in Part A and Part B, we have to identify the hypothesis and conclusion of the given statement.

The lines with slopes $ 23$ and $- 32$ are perpendicular. Now we can write the statement in if-then form. If two lines have slopes of $ 23$ and $- 32$, then they are perpendicular.
