a In probability, 1 is another way of saying 100 %. If any bar would have reached 1 on the bar graph, the probability of getting that color would be 100 %. Therefore, to find the probability of getting red, we have to determine how high this bar reaches relative to 1 at the top of the diagram.

Examining the diagram, we see that the ticklines divides the vertical distance between 0 and 1 in eight equal sections. Therefore, each tickline represent an extra 100 %8=12.5 % of probability. Let's illustrate this in the diagram.

From the diagram, we see that the probability of getting red is 37.5 %.

b Let's also find the probability of spinning yellow by using the diagram from Part A.

From the diagram, we see that the probability of spinning yellow is 12.5 %.

c Let's find the probability of spinning blue by using the diagram from Part A.

From the diagram, we see that the probability of spinning blue is 37.5 %.

d When you do one spin, you will get either red, yellow, blue or green. By subtracting the probabilities of spinning red, yellow and blue from 1, we can determine the probability of spinning green.

P(green)=1-P(red)-P(yellow)-P(blue)
P(green)=1-0.375-0.125-0.375
P(green)=0.125
P(green)=12.5 %

The probability of spinning green is 12.5 %.
