Exercise 97 Page 126

To draw the lines you need to identify the slope and y-intercept of each graph.

(2,-5)

Practice makes perfect
We note that both functions are given in a slope-intercept form. This means we can identify their key features — the slope and y-intercept.
Line Slope y-intercept
y=-4x+3 -4 3
y=x-7 1 -7

Let's plot the y-intercepts first. Then we can plot a second point from each line by using the slope of the line. When we have two points on each line, we can draw them.

The point of intersection is (2,-5).
