Choose two points on the line and draw a slope-triangle.
Where does the line cross the y-axis?
From Part A and Part B we have everything we need.
m=-1/2
y=1
y=-1/2x+1
To find the slope we have to determine the vertical and horizontal difference, Δ y and Δ x, between two known points on the graph. From the graph we can identify the x- and y-intercept as (0,1) and (2,0). We will use these to measure the slope.
Knowing the horizontal and vertical difference, we can calculate the slope.
Δ y= -2, Δ x= 4
Put minus sign in front of fraction
a/b=.a /2./.b /2.
The slope is - 12.
The y-intercept is where the graph cuts the y-axis. From the diagram we can identify this point as (0,1).
Let's write the equation in slope-intercept form with slope m and y-intercept b.
