To find the x-coordinate of A, we count the number of units that it is placed to the right of the origin. Similarly, to find y-coordinate, we count the number of units that it is above the origin.

From the diagram, we see that A is located 2 units to the right of the origin and 4 units above it. Then, its coordinates are x= 2 and y= 4, which we can write as ( 2, 4).
