The distance between the red and the green ball is 10 inches. The distance between the yellow ball and the pallino, the small white ball, is 8 inches. Let's mark them in the picture.

We know that the green ball is the midpoint of the red ball and the pallino. A midpoint divides a distance into two equal lengths. The distance between the green ball and the pallino must, therefore, also be 10 inches.

The green and yellow balls are 10 and 8 inches from the pallino, respectively. Thus, the yellow ball is closer.
