To answer this exercise, we will draw an example of two congruent triangles where we can prove congruence using the AAS (Angle-Angle-Side) Congruence Theorem. That is, two triangles where two corresponding angles and their included side are congruent.

In order to use the ASA (Angle-Side-Angle) Congruence Theorem, we need to know two congruent corresponding sides and the included angle. But, as we can see from the diagram above, we do not have enough information to use this theorem. Therefore, your friend is not able to rewrite any proof that uses the AAS Congruence Theorem as a proof that uses the ASA Congruence Theorem.
