4. Perimeter and Area in the Coordinate Plane
Sign In
A= 9
Rearrange equation
sqrt(LHS)=sqrt(RHS)
s > 0
When we count we find that we managed to fit in 8 squares each with the area 9 square feet. Therefore we can grow a total of 9 zucchini plants.
That leaves us 7 squares in which we can grow one zucchini each. That is, we can grow a total of 7 zucchini plants. The area we set aside to grow lettuce coincides precisely with one of the squares in which we previously grew zucchini. We, therefore, know that its area is 9 square feet. With four heads per square foot we can grow a total of 4* 9=36 lettuce heads.
