Let's recall the definition of similar polygons. Two polygons are similar if and only if their corresponding angles are congruent and corresponding side lengths are proportional. Notice that a scalene triangle has three different side lengths and an isosceles triangle has two congruent sides. This means that the ratio between the corresponding sides cannot be constant. Therefore, a scalene triangle and an isosceles triangle are never similar polygons.
