Let's recall the definition of similar polygons. Two polygons are similar if and only if their corresponding angles are congruent and corresponding side lengths are proportional. This definition indicates that similar polygons have the same shape. Since a trapezoid has exactly one pair of parallel sides and a parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides, these figures do not have the same shape. Therefore, a trapezoid and a parallelogram are never similar polygons.
