Start by marking a corner of the solid.

We are asked to sketch a triangular prism 2 units high, with two sides of the base being 5 and 4 units long.

To draw the prism we will follow the steps below.

  1. Mark a corner of the solid.
  2. Draw 2 units down from the corner.
  3. Draw 4 units to the left from the corner.
  4. Draw 5 units to the right from the corner.
  5. Draw a triangle top for the top of the solid.
  6. Draw segments 2 units down from each vertex for the vertical edges.
  7. Connect the appropriate vertices to create bottom base using a dashed line for the hidden edges.
  8. Add some colors and shadings if desired. We will!
