Exercise 83 Page 471

What makes a sequence arithmetic?

Arithmetic Sequence? Yes.
Common Difference: 0.5

Practice makes perfect

When a sequence is arithmetic, the difference between two consecutive terms is constant. Examining our sequence, we can see that this is not the case. - 0.3 +0.5 → 0.2 +0.5 → 0.7 +0.5 → 1.2 Therefore, the sequence is arithmetic and the common difference is 0.5.
