The Distributive Property tells us that any expression looking like a(b+c) is equal to a b + ac.

3x+3

Practice makes perfect

We want to use the Distributive Property to rewrite the algebraic expression. We will distribute 3 to the terms inside the parentheses.

3(x+1)
3(x)+ 3(1)
3x+3

Since 3x and 3 are not like terms, the expression cannot be simplified further.
