Consider the given figure. We are told that point D is at (-4, 1), so let's include that in the graph.

We want to use the sides of â–³ BDA to find the slope of the line. To do so, remember that the slope is the value of the ratio of the change in y to the change in x between any two points on the line. m=Change iny/Change inx In our case, we will consider the change in x as the length of DA and the change in y as the length of BD. From the graph we can see that the length of DA is equal to 2 and the length of BD is equal to 1. m=1/2 Since the line falls from the left to the right, the slope is negative. Therefore, the slope of the line is equal to - 12.
