We will start by substituting x_1= - 1, y_1= 0, x_2= 1, and y_2= - 2 into the above formula to calculate the slope for the blue line. Let's do it!

m = y_2-y_1/x_2-x_1
m=- 2- 0/1-( - 1)
m=- 2-0/1+1
m=- 2/2
m=- 2/2
m=- 1

The slope of the blue line is equal to - 1. To find the slope of red line, we can substitute x_1= - 1, y_1= 3, x_2= 1, and y_2= - 1 into the slope formula.

m = y_2-y_1/x_2-x_1
m=- 1- 3/1-( - 1)
m=- 1-3/1+1
m=- 4/2
m=- 2

The slope of the red line is equal to - 2. The lines have different slope, which means that they are not parallel lines.
