There are two methods to solve a system of equations by substitution:
  1. Solve for x first.
  2. Solve for y first.

By solving one of the equations in the system for one of the variables, we can then substitute this expression into the other equation. We now have one equation in only one variable. This means the value of the single variable can be found. Finally, we can substitute this value in the first equation to find the full answer.
