Practice makes perfect

Before we can graph the equation, we have to write them in slope-intercept form. x+2y&=2 ⇔ y=- 1/2x+1 [0.8em] 2x-y&=4 ⇔ y= 2x-4 To enter the equations in our calculator, we press Y= and then proceed to write them on the first two rows.

By pressing GRAPH, the calculator will plot the equations using the standard viewing window.

However, we want the fancy square viewing window. A non-square window just will not do. To view the window in a square format, we need to change the window so that Height/Width=2/3 If we let - 9≤ x ≤ 9 and - 6≤ y ≤ 6, our window will be square. To make this change, press the button WINDOW, and make the necessary changes.

Once more, we press GRAPH, and the calculator will plot the graph using the new window settings.

The lines are perpendicular to each other.
