3. Graphing Radical Functions
Sign In
To graph the equation, first isolate y. You will have to graph two separate equations.
Graph:
Radius: 6
x-intercepts: ±6
y-intercepts: ±6
LHS * (-1)=RHS* (-1)
Commutative Property of Addition
sqrt(LHS)=sqrt(RHS)
y=sqrt(36-x^2) and y=- sqrt(36-x^2) To enter these functions, push Y= and type them in two different rows. Then push GRAPH to draw them.
Looking at the graph, we can see that the circle has a radius of 6. Also, both of its x- and y-intercepts occur at 6 and -6.
