To calculate the square root of something, you raise it to the power of 12.

To solve the equation by graphing, we first create functions out of the equation's left-hand and right-hand side. y=sqrt(2x-3) and y=4 To draw the graphs on your calculator, push Y= and write the functions in the first two rows. Note that a square root is the same as raising to the power of 12. However, we can also use the calculator's sqrt()-symbol by pushing 2nd and x^2.

Push GRAPH to draw the functions. Make sure the window settings are set so the graph will be visible. This can be done from the WINDOW menu.

We can see that there is one point of intersection. To find this point, we can use the intersect option. Push 2nd and TRACE, then choose the list's fifth option, intersect. Now we have to select the two graphs and provide the calculator with a guess of where the intersection might be.

The solution to the equation is x=9.5.
