Using the values from the table, let's calculate the difference of the numbers of bagels between the consecutive numbers of baker's dozens.

Baker's Dozens Number of Bagels
1 13
1+ 1= 2 13+ 13= 26
2+ 1= 3 26+ 13= 39

As we can see, adding one more baker's dozen each time increases the number of bagels by 13. Whenever a pattern grows by the same number each time, instead of adding this number, we can use multiplication. If the number of dozens is represented by the variable b, multiplying the number of bagels in one baker's dozen by b will give the total number of bagels in b baker's dozens. bagels in a baker's dozen * number of baker's dozens ⇓ 13* b
