What Operations Are Needed in the Calculations?

We know that for each roll we prepare, we will need 3 oz of salmon and that this equals to 8 servings of sushi. To find an expression to calculate the amount of salmon needed to prepare s servings, it will be useful to know first how many rolls we will need. 1 roll = 8 servings ⇓ 1/8s rolls = s servingsWe will need to divide the number of servings by 8 to get the number of rolls needed to prepare that quantity of servings. Once we know how many rolls we need, we will need to multiply the number of rolls by 3 because each of them requires 3 oz of salmon. 1/8s * 3 = 3/8s This expression gives us the amount of salmon needed to prepare s servings of sushi.

Organizing Results in a Table

Now that we have an expression to calculate the amount of salmon needed for any quantity of servings s, we can use it to calculate the salmon needed for the different servings that the problem asks. Let's try for 16 servings first.
