Find the actual measures of your classroom. Define the scale you want and use it to find the measures of your scale drawing.

Practice makes perfect
Let's assume that our classroom has a rectangular shape, with two walls 30feet long and two walls 20 feet long. To make a scale drawing, we need to define the scale we will use — for example, let's say that 1 in :5 ft. 1in :5 ft means that one inch in our drawing represents five feet

With this scale, let's find the lengths of the walls in our drawing. 1 in/5 ft = w_1 in/30 ft ⇒ w_1 = 30/5 = 6 in [0.2cm] 1 in/5 ft = w_2 in/20 ft ⇒ w_2 = 20/5 = 4 in We need to draw a rectangle where two sides have a measure of 6inches and the other two sides have a measure of 4 inches.

Scale Model

If we would like to make a scale model, we need to consider also the height of the classroom. Let's say that it is 10feet high. Next, let's find the corresponding height of our model. 1 in/5 ft = h in/10 ft ⇒ h = 10/5 = 2 in In consequence, our model will be 2 inches high. Thus, our final scale model would look as follows.
