Subtract equations

Theory

Subtract equations

Systems of equations can be solved using the elimination method. This means subtracting (or adding) one equation from the other. The difference of the two left-hand sides are set equal to the difference of the two right-hand sides. The purpose is to eliminate one of the unknowns and determine the other.
