Overlapping Events

Concept

Overlapping Events

Two events are said to be overlapping when they have common outcomes. For example, when playing cards, the event of drawing a heart and the event of drawing a queen are overlapping. The outcome of drawing the queen of hearts is in both events.

The probability of overlapping events can be found using the Addition Rule of Probability.
