A kite is a quadrilateral with two pairs of congruent sides and where the congruent sides are adjacent to each other. A kite's opposite sides, however, are not congruent.
The diagonals of a kite are always perpendicular to each other. Consequently, one of the diagonals bisects the other.
Kites are also symmetric about one of the diagonals.
