Input and Output - Function

The input of a function is the value that goes into the function. The result of the function is called the output.
Select input:
x=-2x=\text{-2}

x=0x=0

x=3x=3

The xx-value in the function notation f(x)f(x) represent its input and the value of the function, usually called the yy-value, represent the output.
