The volume of a sphere is four thirds the product of π and the cube of the radius. V=4/3π r^3 In the diagram we can see that the diameter is 7.7 centimeters. Therefore, the radius is 7.7÷ 2= 3.85 centimeters. We can substitute this value for r in the above formula and evaluate the right-hand side.
V=4/3π r^3
V=4/3π ( 3.85)^3
Evaluate right-hand side
V=4/3π (57.066625)
V=4/3(57.066625)π
V=4(57.066625)/3π
V=228.2665/3π
V=239.040119...
V≈ 239.0
The volume of the sphere, correct to the nearest tenth, is 239.0 cubic centimeters.
