Exercise 1 Page 176

Rewrite a fraction as a percent. To do this, find an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100.

7/25

Practice makes perfect
Fractions and percents are ways to show parts of a whole. We want to tell which number is greater. 25 % , 7/25 To do this, we will write a fraction as a percent. To write a fraction as a percent, we first find an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. 7/25=x/100 We multiply 25 by 4 to get 100, so we will also multiply 7 by 4 to get an equivalent fraction.
7/25
We found that 725 and 28100 are equivalent fractions. Now we can write the new fraction as a percent by looking at the numerator and adding a percent symbol. 7/25=28/100= 28 % Since 28 is greater than 25, 28 % is greater than 25 %. This means that 725 is greater than 25 %.
