Exercise 61 Page 386

Are there any situations where it is not possible to determine a plane with three points?

Sometimes.

Practice makes perfect

A plane can be determined with three points. However, these three points have to not be collinear. If they are collinear, there are multiple planes in which all the points are contained. Thus, any three points sometimes determine a plane.
