A parabola can be defined as the set of all points in a plane that are equidistant from a fixed point called focus and a fixed line called directrix.

Let $(x,y)$ be a point on the parabola. We will find an expression for the distance between $(x,y)$ and the focus $F(0,1)$ using the Distance Formula.
