Value of g(3)

Let's start by finding the value of g(3). To do this, substitute 3 for x in the function rule.

g(x)=x^2+1
g( 3)=( 3)^2+1
g(3)=9+1
g(3)=10

When x=3, g(x)= 10.

Value of f(4)

Now, we have to find the value of f(4). To do this substitute 4 for x in the function rule.

f(x)=2x
f( 4)=2( 4)
f(4)=8

When x=4, f(x)= 8.

Addition

Since we have both g(3) and f(4) we can calculate their sum.

g(3)+f(4)
10+ 8
