We have been given a universal set U and a set E defined as follows. &U={x | x is a natural number} &E={2, 4, 6, 8, ... }We are asked to find E'. In order to do this, let's identify the elements of E that are found in the universal set. Remember, natural numbers are positive integers. &U={1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, ... } Since the complement of a set is the set of all elements in the universal set that are not in the set, we can construct E' to be all of the elements in U that are not in E. &E'={1, 3, 5, 7, ...} This corresponds to answer A.
