To solve the equation, we should first gather all of the variable terms on one side and all of the constant terms on the other side using the Properties of Equality.

3x+4=5x-10

LHS-3x=RHS-3x

3x+4-3x=5x-10-3x

Subtract terms

4= 2x -10

LHS+10=RHS+10

4 +10 =2x-10+10

Add terms

14=2x

.LHS /2.=.RHS /2.

14/2=2x/2

Calculate quotient

7=x

Rearrange equation

x=7

The solution to the equation is x=7. We can check our solution by substituting it into the original equation.

3x+4=5x-10

x= 7

3( 7)+4? =5( 7)-10

Multiply

21+4? =35-10

Add and subtract terms

25=25 ✓

Since the left-hand side is equal to the right-hand side, our solution is correct.
