The midsegment of a trapezoid is parallel to each base and its measure is one half the sum of the lengths of the bases.

Using the theorem, we can write the following equation. VS= 1/2 ( UT+ QR) We are given that VS= 7 and QR= 2. Let's find the length of UT.

VS=1/2(UT+QR)

7=1/2(UT+ 2)

LHS * 2=RHS* 2

14=UT+2

Rearrange equation
