Exercise 40 Page 820

Recall that in an oblique prism, at least one lateral face is not a rectangle but a parallelogram. In contrast, in a right prism, the lateral faces are rectangles.

Description: The net is formed by 2 rectangles and 4 parallelograms. In a right rectangular prism, the net contains 6 rectangles.
Example Prism:

Practice makes perfect
Let's begin by drawing a rectangular prism. Recall that its bases are rectangles and at least one lateral face is not a rectangle.

Let's try to break down the prism above to see its lateral faces.

As we can see, the bases are rectangles while the four lateral faces are parallelograms. In contrast, in the net of a right rectangular prism all the lateral faces are rectangles.
