In the percent proportion, the ratio of the part a to the whole b is equal to the percent p written as a fraction. a/b=p/100 Given any two of these three variables, we can find the third one. In this exercise, we want to find 19 % of 82. Therefore, we have that p= 19 and b= 82.
a/b=p/100
a/82=19/100
a=19/100* 82
Evaluate right-hand side
a=19* 82/100
a=1558/100
a=15.58
This means that 15.58 is 19 % of 82.
