Recall that the probability of an event is the ratio of favorable outcomes to possible outcomes. Probability=favorable outcomes/possible outcomes In this exercise, we have a bag containing 19 marbles: 8 blue, 6 red, and 5 green.

We are given that the first two marbles drawn are red and blue and are not replaced. Not replacing the first two marbles means that the number of possible outcomes for the third marble drawn is reduced.

After the red and blue marbles are drawn, 17 marbles remain in the bag. This is the new number of possible outcomes. Since the first marble drawn was red, the number of red marbles has been reduced. The new number of favorable outcomes is 5. 5/17 l← ← lred marbles total marbles
