Use the Multiplication Property of Equality to eliminate the division.

To solve the equation we have to isolate b on one side. We will use the Multiplication Property of Equality to multiply both sides of the equation by 7. This will eliminate the division and isolate b.

b/7=-11

b/7*7=-11*7

b=-11*7
Multiply

Multiply

b=-77

To check that this solution is correct, substitute b=-77 into the original equation and simplify.

b/7=-11

Put minus sign in front of fraction

- 77/7? =-11

Calculate quotient

-11=-11

Since the left-hand side and right-hand side are equal, b=-77 is the correct solution.
