If a point B lies on the line segment with endpoints A and C, the length of AC can be calculated by adding the lengths of the smaller segments. Take a look at the provided diagram to understand this postulate better.

The length of segment AC can be found by adding the lengths of its smaller segments AB and BC.


A B + B C = AC
