The Basics of Probability

Concept

Uniform Probability Model

A uniform probability model is a probability model in which every outcome of an experiment is equally likely to happen. Therefore, if an experiment has n different outcomes, each has a probability of 1 n. For example, consider rolling a fair six-sided die.

Applet that allows to roll a die

Each outcome of rolling a die has the same probability of occurring. Since there are six different outcomes, each has a probability of 1 6.
