The intersection of two or more sets contains the elements common to all the sets and is denoted by the symbol ⋂.
In a Venn diagram, the intersection is the overlapping region of the sets.
Consider an example. U&={1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9} A&={1,2, 3} B&={ 3,4,5,6} In this case, the number 3 is the only element that belongs to both A and B. Therefore, the intersection of A and B has only one element, 3. A ⋂ B = { 3 } This example can be illustrated with a Venn diagram.
