Concept

Even Number

An even number is any integer that is divisible exactly by 2.2. In other words, if the quotient of an integer and 22 is an integer, then the first integer is considered to be an even number.

Examples:

nn n2\dfrac{n}{2} kk Even?
-4\text{-}4 -42\dfrac{{\color{#0000FF}{\text{-}4}}}{2} -2\text{-} 2 Yes
33 32\dfrac{{\color{#0000FF}{3}}}{2} 1.51.5 No
3636 362\dfrac{{\color{#0000FF}{36}}}{2} 1818 Yes
2525 252\dfrac{{\color{#0000FF}{25}}}{2} 12.512.5 No

Even numbers are usually defined as numbers nn that can be written in the form n=2k,n=2k, where kk is an integer.
