Apothem of a Regular Polygon

An apothem of a regular polygon is a perpendicular line segment from the center of the polygon to the midpoint of any of its sides. The apothem bisects the side where its endpoint is.

An apothem can refer either to the segment itself or its length — all the apothems of a regular polygon are congruent. Keep in mind that only regular polygons have apothems.
