Altitude

An altitude of a triangle is a line segment between one of the triangle's vertices and forming a right angle with the opposite side.

An altitude can be created using any of a triangle's vertices and opposing sides.

For an obtuse triangle it is possible to create an altitude using a line which contains the opposing side rather than using the opposing side itself.
