Mean

In order to find the mean, or average, we need to find the sum of the numbers and divide by the amount of numbers.
Mean=Sum of values/Number of values
Mean=36+18+12+10+9/5
Mean=85/5
Mean=17
The mean of the numbers is 17.

Median

The median of a set of data is the middle number, or the average of the two middle numbers, when placed in order from least to greatest. Let's start by writing the numbers in numerical order. 9, 10, 12, 18, 36 Since there is an odd number of values, the median is the middle number, which is 12.
