Exercise 17 Page 94

What is the difference between the domain and range?

Domain: 0≤ t≤2.5
Range: 0≤ H≤30000

Practice makes perfect
The domain is all values of an independent variable(horizontal line) and the range is all values of a dependent variable(vertical line). Since the flight lasted 2.5 hours and its altitude ranged between 0 and 30000 feet, we can state the domain and range. Let t be the time in hours and H the height in feet.

Domain:& 0≤ t≤2.5 Range:& 0≤ H≤30000
