We solve an inequality much like the way that we solve an equation.

Inequalities are solved in almost the same way as equations, by using inverse operations to isolate the variable. The only difference between the two procedures is that we must reverse the direction of the inequality symbol when we divide or multiply by a negative number.
p+14 ≤ 9
p+14-14≤ 9-14
p≤-5
Now that the variable has been isolated, we have solved the inequality.
