Circumference

The circumference C of a circle with radius r is calculated using the formula below. C=2Ï€ r Let's now consider the given diagram.

In the diagram we can see that the diameter is 3.6inches. Therefore, the radius is 3.6÷ 2= 1.8inches. We can substitute this value for r in the formula for the circumference of a circle and simplify.

C=2Ï€( 1.8)
C=2(1.8)Ï€
C=3.6Ï€
C=11.309733...
C≈ 11.3

The circumference of the circle is approximately 11.3inches.

Area

Similar to the perimeter, the area of a circle with radius r is calculated using the formula below. A=Ï€ r^2 We know that the radius of the circle is 1.8m. By substituting 1.8 for r in the formula, we can calculate A.

A=Ï€ r^2
A=Ï€( 1.8)^2
A=Ï€(3.24)
A=3.24Ï€

A≈ 10.2

The area of the circle is approximately 10.2 square inches.
